Advisor and broker Marsh & McLennan acquires London insurance and reinsurance broker Jardine Llyod Thompson (JLT).
He thus consolidates his position as the world’s largest insurance broker and rises to become the largest reinsurance broker. The New Yorkers take 5.7 billion dollars into their hands. JLT’s ordinary shares will receive a cash settlement of £19.15 per share, a 33% premium. The integration should be anything but smooth. Marsh’s main concern will be JLT’s turnover, which is likely to cut many jobs for the British company. It is also piquant that Marsh recently poached many of JLT’s employees in the USA, who brought a number of customers with them. This has resulted in a number of labor court cases.
